You can take part in a whole variety of taster workshops that will give you a chance to learn how to draw, use photoshop to make better photographs, create animations or even how to make pots. This part of the talking shop is run by ArtWaves, who are based in Burslem and who will bring in artists, designers and expert craftspeople to work with you
Digital Photography with Artist Julie Newbold In making pictures, we wanted to help the community to make better pictures, so we enlisted the help of Photographers, Animators and Painters to assist us in making better images.
Julie took members of the community on a grand tour of Stoke on Trent, to discover the hidden treasures we often over look.
The following images have been taken by our participants...:) Great aren't they!
Animation with Karen Sayle Karen wanted to reach people in unusual places, so we set up her animation equipment in one of our local indoor markets... It was a great success, the public loved the unusal activity going on amongst the more traditional stalls.
Passers by were inivted to have a go! And if you enjoyed a bit of animation, then we created workshops at Karen's Burslem based studio.
We're just editing some of the animations now... they'll be up here soon for you to see.

Make Paintings with Rob Pointon, Professional Painter Rob is very good at capturing the feeling of a place, in his paintings, even when the scenery keeps changing. An artist truly at home with his brushes. He manages to convey speed and stillness within the same image, something that comes across in Rob as an artist. He works quickly but calmly...
Something we hoped he could pass on to our community...
Rob has been painting in public places for us and chatting and discussing the tips and tricks of his craft and trade, along the way.
PhotoShop with Nick Winstanley In this project with Nick Winstanley we looked at creatively manipulating images. In this age of media driven arts & entertainment, the skills learned in using PhotoShop can transfer across so many forms of modern day design.
PhotoShop makes it possible to create fantasy worlds or to fool the eye into seeing a reality that is not real... Whether you just want to remove that annoying pineapple from your mates head, or your designs stretch to illustrating the next Star Wars; learning the basics of PhotoShop can start a journey into image making that can last a life time.
