The Creative Learning Network
This project is all about communication via the internet. Learn how to use social networks in a creative way

The Creative Learning Network has been working with learners about how to make the internet work for you and your community groups.

The workshops followed a very informal manner where participants were invited to bring their internet issues to the sessions and open them to the rest of the group.

Carl Plant and Grace Han, who led the workshops, provided a number of solutions and demystified a lot of what can be intimidating about social networking and blogging site.

Members of community groups attended the workshops and all expressed an interest to go back and implement the information they had.

Digital Story Telling
In this part of the talking shop we wanted to encourage the good people of Stoke on Trent & Staffordshire to tell us their stories.

Maria Whatton is a creative writer and story-teller who has been working with audiences ranging from small children to adults for the last 10 years. Maria facilitated the story-telling part of the project, making use of flip charts and drawing materials to encourage the participants to open up and take a wander down the storytelling path.

Mike Gooch owns First Waves Films. A Corporate and Educational Film and Media Production was responsible for the recording the stories. He used a very hands on approach with the participants, encouraging them to get to know their camera equipment and experiment to find their won style of filming.

Participant feedback has been great with people finding their confidence had increased as they became more used to talking in front of others and the cameras. A short film of the workshop will be available to view shortly. Watch this space!
